rugs

i've been in a half search for a rug in the living room and come up with several selections.  a chevron or stripe rug.  my close friend is also in search for a new rug for her living room and has shown me this one:

hibiscus trellis rug - anthropologie
for her it fits perfectly, but i have not seen her place in well over a year, but this rug has her name written all over it.  for me, i don't think i can do flowers that big even if they are a beautiful mustard yellow.

when moving into the new place i purchased a 20$ rug from ikea.  that was probably one of the worse 'because it was cheap' purchases i've done and trust me i've done many of them.  it's not very plush and the fumes that are coming off that thing are horrible!  i know when i was taking my leed exam that was one way you could lose points was installing unsustainable carpet.  i know for a fact that i am trying to furnish and decorate this place sustainably. failed! i need to do more research into this.

settling

moving day has come and gone. really though i should say moving weekend has come and gone.  i've moved many a times during college and after it was never this much work before.  for the most part the furniture has been cleaned and placed in a location.  with the exception of two items.  unpacking there are still boxes that need to be unpacked.  in the hunt for a table to place in the dinning room, a butlers tray to use in the kitchen for more work space, and an adult bed (ikea did not have 2 pieces of the bed i wanted in stock).  accessories are needed, but there is limited funding for these items.  ideally ikat curtains (westelm has them on sale, but that's a big chunk of money i do not have), a zigzag rug, and other random accessories to have.  but it takes time so we shall see...along with seeing how it will mesh with the 70s era furniture and tacky futon that needs sprucing up.

technically, i should be saving and purging down on items.  well good luck to me.
